Challenges to Peacekeeping Operations

More than fifty years divide the first peacekeeping operation performed by the United Nations in 1948, the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO), and the deployment currently being carried out in Lebanon.

This half century of troubled history has required significant changes in matters of security, forcing these missions to be adjusted to a substantially different international framework.

Some books published recently allow taking stock of these years, analysing trends and assessing current and future problems.
