Ivan Briscoe

Ivan Briscoe studied philosophy, politics and economics (PPE) at the University of Oxford, before receiving a Frank Knox Memorial Fellowship to continue his studies for a year at Harvard University. He has also completed a master’s degree in Development at Madrid’s Complutense University.
He started work in the field of public policy at the Demos Research Institute in London, before moving into journalism in Argentina, where he was employed for four years at the Buenos Aires Herald, while also writing frequently for the international press, including Time, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph and The Houston Chronicle. After returning to Europe, he worked as a journalist at Agence France Presse (Paris) and The UNESCO Courrier (Paris), and from 2004 as the editor of the English edition of El País (Madrid).
He writes often on Latin America and developing world issues for Open Democracy and The New Internationalist, and has taken part in numerous radio programmes on the BBC, Radio Nederland and Radio France International.
