Clare Castillejo

Researcher

Clare Castillejo is a researcher at FRIDE. Prior to joining FRIDE, Clare worked as a Social Development Adviser with DFID, conducted research on human rights in South Asia for Amnesty International, and worked for UNDP developing HIV and human rights programmes. Clare has also worked as a researcher with the European Monitoring Centre on Racism (EUMC) in Vienna and with the South Asia Human Rights Group in London. She has a BA in Social Anthropology from the University of Sussex and an MA in Anthropology of Development from SOAS.

Her research focuses on issues of human rights and social development, in Asia in particular. Her recent publications include ‘Women’s political participation and influence in Sierra Leone’ (FRIDE, June 2009) and ‘Building accountable justice in Sierra Leone’ (FRIDE, January 2009).
